If someone asked you, “Are you saved?” how would you answer them? Why would you answer them that way?

  1. Yes, I am saved. Because assurance is the essence of faith. Faith is the only distinction that seperates believers from unbelievers. Assurance can only be attained by being 100% objective and not subjective. Faith looks to Christ as the author and finisher of ones salvation. This is not to say we are not plagued by doubts, but doubts onoy arise when we navel gaze and look inward. This subjective assurance will always cause men to stumble because we are sinners. Luther himself had no patience for any view of knowing one is saved that took the burden of Salvation away from God and to man.
